RENÉ CHU: How to choose the right glasses for your face shape
Let us live like flowers, wild and beautiful, drenched in the sun. It’s officially spring (my favourite season) and the time where everyone starts browsing for new sunglasses for everyday wear. There are a few things to consider before investing in your next pair. Whether you are into the drama of an oversized shape or love the nostalgia of an all time classic (aviators and cat eyes), pick a frame shape that complements your face. The goal is to accentuate your best features and discover the most complimentary shades for you.
Heart Shape:
My Decadent Nightmare- Wish You Were Here (Iowa Bronze)
Heart shaped faces (also called triangle), are widest at the temples and narrowest at the chin. The best sunglasses for heart shaped faces are frames that help broaden your delicate jawline and direct attention downward to elongate features. Aviators are an ideal option as the sloping silhouette perfectly contrasts and flatter your v-shaped chin.
Round:
5 Senses- BPM (Unicorn)
The round face shape has noticeable curves and less defined angles. Rectangular sunglasses balance your round features and elongate your face and make it look thinner and sharper, bringing the attention upward. A squared frame with a brow bar gives the wearer a delicate and defined shape.
Oval:
Boyish- Paradise (Dark Grey)
Oval faces have gently rounded, fairly even features and have a lot of wiggle room when choosing their eyewear. So pretty much any frame is going to work well on them. Sunglasses with a brow bar create definition and contrast for an oval shape.
Square:
REVÉ by RENÉ x Peanuts- I’m on the moon (Nebula Pink)
Square shaped faces are generally about the same length and width across the face. Soften your features with with curvy frames (such as oval), this helps round out the sharpness of the face for a more balanced look. An oversized, curvy pair will draw attention upward for a feminine feel.
Oblong:
Boyish- Couldn’t Care Less (Shiny Black)
Oblong faces (also called rectangular) are characterised by its longer length. This face shape works especially well with oversized sunglasses or larger wayfarers. Choose a pair with a strong horizontal line, and you’ll balance out the vertical beauty.
